eBay Listing Reveals Metroid and Castlevania Cartoons That Almost Were

If you were a kid in the late '80s and early '90s, you probably have memories of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, complete with Mario and Zelda cartoons. Now, thanks to an eBay auction hosted by a former DIC employee, we're getting a look at what other video game cartoons we nearly had.

The lot, which stands at $616 at the time of this writing, contains four photo prints for DIC and Nintendo's unproduced cartoons that would also have been a part of the run. Check out this very Scooby-Doo-esque Castlevania rendering:

An interpretation of the sports game collection California Games that must have had one heck of a story pitch:

This Double Dragon mock-up with a heavy dose of brotherly face-kicking:

And some guy who ran off with Samus's power suit for a Metroid cartoon:

For better or for worse, none of these ever saw the light of day—so these concept pics may be your only taste of what could have been. The down side? We could totally have had Metroid and Castlevania cereal. We were robbed.

The auction ends May 14, so get your bids in soon.
